Learn what steps to follow to drastically lower the time it takes to prepare your CLIL Lesson
No prior knowledge about CLIL needed
Workshops that provided inspiration, for a couple of weeks
Books that offer a lot of information, but no step by step procedure
Discuss with colleagues, but you both do not have the time to do follow-ups
That is okay, we have all been there.
I know I have.
When I started out with teaching CLIL almost 15 years ago it was quite a struggle.
There was no procedure, no plan, no guidance on how to do it.
I know what CLIL stood for…
..but that did not mean I knew how to apply it effectively to my lesson…
..with preferably as little preparation time as possible.
Do you recognize that?
Wouldn’t it be great if you knew how to make CLIL work for your students, so they are motivated to learn more and engaged with both the content and the language?..
..without taking hours to prepare?
you don’t know where to start or the next step to take to improve your CLIL lesson
Sure you can read a few books and you might even find inspiration and ideas.
There actually are really good books on CLIL out there, but they do not help you to decide what to do next..
and do not provide you with ready-to-use activities you can implement immediately.
It is still up to you to:
You feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things you have to do in a CLIL lesson
OR
You are stressed out because you have no idea what to do next
OR
You lack ideas for your next CLIL lessons so you keep doing the same thing over and over again (not really motivating your students along the way)
You’d think things would have changed over the course of 15 years…
..but they have not.
Personally I have followed extensive CLIL courses, joined many CLIL workshops and even visited many CLIL colleagues’ lessons…
...and it took me years to find out how to make it work for me.
To be honest, I don’t know if I would want to go through that process again.
It simply took way too long.
And it takes time and energy away from the reason you decided to become a teacher:
To Enjoy Teaching
I still see CLIL teachers worldwide struggle with
The result?
You feel as if you cannot do it the way ‘it is supposed to’ and decide to do it your own way, whether it works or not.
You might even get demotivated after trying it a lot of times, without success.
If you knew exactly what steps to take, and in what order, to learn about CLIL without overwhelm?
If you could discuss your challenges with fellow CLIL teachers who experience similar things and feel you are not alone?
If you would have a toolkit of ready-to-use activites for your lesson so you can start right now?
What you need is a way to work with CLIL in your lesson that:
That is why I created ..
An easy to follow, step-by-step plan to put all of the things related to CLIL in perspective.
To not just make everything a lot more clear, but also makes a lot more applicable to your situation.
So you can start working with CLIL immediately.

When you follow these 9 steps you will see CLIL can make sense to you, no matter what your current level of expertise is.
Each step is small enough to make it easy to understand and apply, but together this plan makes for a comprehensive and complete approach to CLIL.
To make sure you no longer wonder ‘what to do next’ or feel insecure if you are ‘on the right track’.
With these steps you can focus on teaching CLIL in a way that makes teaching fun again with:
I think implementing the CLIL Quality Roadmap works best when working on it together with fellow CLIL teachers, learning from each other and immediately implementing the ideas.
During a 3 month period, you will have weekly group calls. A group consists of a maximum of 5 people to ensure everyone gets enough attention. Each week we will discuss a new step and talk about how to implement it to your situation.
1 - The step-by-step plan to prepare and implement engaging CLIL lessons
We start assuming you don’t know anything about CLIL and gradually build towards a better understanding, all the while preparing engaging activities for you to do in your lesson.
2 - Weekly group calls to go through the steps
Each week we will discuss a step, so you don’t have to do it alone but can immediately ask questions and receive my help with the implementation.
3 - Learn from fellow CLIL teachers
In small groups of 2-5 people, we will discuss all of the steps and share experiences. This is not just a great learning experience, but also motivates a lot because you learn from each other as well.
4 - Online support
You will gain lifetime access to the detailed instruction videos related to the CLIL Quality Roadmap as well as the recordings of the sessions.
You also gain access to the private Facebook Group, so we can share and discuss things there.
Step 1: What is CLIL?
Step 2: Language Skills & CLIL
Step 3: Scaffolding & Bloom
Step 4: Activity Check
Step 5: Lesson stages
Step 6: Feedback & Assessment
Step 7: CLIL for your subject
Step 8: Planning
Step 9: Quality collaboration
The first session will take place in week 43 (October 19 - October 25)
This way the 9 sessions will take place before the Christmas holiday.
After you have signed up, we will determine the best moment for the group sessions to take place so everyone in the group can participate in the weekly live calls as much as possible.
The CLIL Quality Roadmap is basically everything you need to start working with CLIL.
This means you no longer need to read a lot of CLIL books, and still figure things out on your own.
Or visit workshops and inspiration sessions to find a great idea for a single moment in your lesson, which you still have to adapt to your situation.
Even joining a conference is not needed anymore, as you will meet fellow CLIL teachers during the various group calls and in the FB group.
In other words, the CLIL Quality Roadmap is going to save you time, energy and frustration.
Cost of the CLIL Quality Roadmap:
€297,-
Well below professional development budgets
If you have any doubts, please contact me to see if this is a good fit for you.
There is no reason to be struggling if I can help you, but that obviously does mean that the course should fit your needs :).
I completely agree! In my experience, Do-It-Yourself online training modules barely ever succeed at teaching you something new.
We are all busy, so taking the time to sit down and do an online training is not very high on our priority list.
That is why this online learning experience is not just ‘a course’, but the online courses functions as the support for the weekly coaching sessions.
In other words, working together in a group with fellow CLIL teachers, you will not just find the motivation to keep going towards a common goal, but also inspiration and ideas.
On a level a ‘normal e-course’ just simply cannot offer.
That is fine, take your time. We start in two weeks time, so if you want to discuss it first that is okay. Be sure to reserve your spot though, otherwise there might be no place for you in the group anymore.
CLIL can be applied to many different types of education. As such, many of the things I discuss in this course are applicable to all of the different levels of education.
My personal experience is more related to secondary education, so the examples I use will be from that area of expertise.
But we can definitely change things to fit your situation!
When the applications are in, we will together decide on the best date and time to plan the coaching sessions, to accommodate the needs and wishes of the participants.
I will do my absolute best to make sure everyone can join the live coaching sessions, as they are key to this learning experience.
Yes. Although we start with the basics, this is just to make sure we are all on the same page. And because the sessions are interactive, you will experience the activities yourself.
In other words: even experienced CLIL teachers will find this experience to be new and exciting.
Also, once we get to the second and third layer of the CLIL Quality Roadmap, you will quickly learn new things about more advanced topics related to CLIL.
The group sessions will start in about two weeks time, after we have planned what day and time we will get together
We will decide on the best day and time with the members of the group.
Because the group sessions are an important part of this course, we aim to find a day and time that works for everyone. This could also mean we split up groups or decide on different days and times during the course.
As one group consists of a maximum of 5 people, the amount of people who can join this course determines the amount of groups. We can start when one group is full, but multiple groups are possible.
Sure! Just sent me an email at p.deboer@clilmedia.com with any question you might have.
